UK Entrepreneur Visa Services

The UK Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa was a popular route for individuals seeking to establish or take over a business in the United Kingdom. While this visa category has now been closed to new applicants, those already holding an Entrepreneur Visa may still be eligible to extend it or apply for settlement.

At HM & Co. Solicitors, our expert team continues to support individuals on the Entrepreneur route, offering advice on extensions, compliance, and progression toward Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and British Citizenship.

Visa Extension Services

If you currently hold a Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa, we can assist you with extending your stay, provided the following key requirements have been met:

  • Investment of £200,000 into one or more UK businesses.

  • Business Registration: The business must have been registered within 6 months of the visa start date.

  • Job Creation: The business must have created at least two full-time roles for settled workers in the UK.

These criteria are subject to specific evidential rules and conditions. Our solicitors will ensure that your application is fully prepared and compliant with all Home Office requirements.

Transition to New Business Routes

For new applicants or those exploring UK business opportunities, the Entrepreneur Visa has been replaced by alternative immigration pathways:

  • Start-Up Visa – Designed for first-time entrepreneurs with an innovative business idea endorsed by an approved body.

  • Innovator Founder Visa – For experienced businesspeople with access to funding and a scalable, endorsed business proposal.

  • UK Expansion Worker Visa – A route for senior personnel of overseas businesses seeking to establish a UK presence.

We provide tailored legal guidance on all modern business immigration routes to the UK.

Key Benefits of the Entrepreneur Visa (for existing holders)

  • Pathway to Settlement: Eligible applicants may apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain after 5 years.

  • Bring Family Members: You may bring your spouse or partner and children under 18.

  • Access to Public Services: Dependent children are entitled to free state education.

Your Questions, Answered

FAQs

Entrepreneur Visa – FAQs

What is the High Potential Individual (HPI) Visa?

The High Potential Individual visa is designed for graduates of top-ranked global universities. Unlike the Global Talent visa, which focuses on proven accomplishments in specific fields, the HPI visa requires applicants to demonstrate they have completed a qualification from an eligible institution as published by the UK Home Office.

Does receiving an offer from an eligible university qualify me?

No. You must have successfully completed and been awarded your qualification. Simply being accepted or enrolled at an eligible university is not sufficient.

Are all UK universities included in the eligibility list?

No, not all UK universities are recognised under this scheme. If your university is not listed, you may wish to explore alternative routes such as the Skilled Worker visa or Graduate visa.

What level of qualification is required?

You must have been awarded a qualification equivalent to one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Master’s degree

  • PhD or Doctorate

Only these levels of academic achievement are accepted under the HPI route.

What additional requirements must I meet?

In addition to holding a qualifying degree, you must also:

  • Demonstrate your English language proficiency, usually through a recognised test or an exempt qualification.

  • Show financial stability by proving that you have sufficient personal savings to support yourself for at least 12 months in the UK.
