Spouse Visa Extensions

Helping You Extend Your Stay with Confidence

If you or your partner currently hold a UK Spouse Visa – whether as a married couple or an unmarried partnership – our expert immigration team at HM & Co. Solicitors is here to help you extend that visa smoothly and efficiently.

Spouse Visas are initially granted for 2.5 years (30 months), after which you’ll need to apply for an extension to continue living together in the UK. A successful extension grants you a further 2.5 years, bringing you to the five-year threshold for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) – and, in time, British citizenship.

Our Spouse Visa Extension Services Include:

  • A tailored assessment of your current visa and circumstances

  • Full preparation and submission of your visa extension application

  • Use of both partner and applicant income to meet financial requirements

  • Application submitted from within the UK

  • Option of 24-hour priority decision service

  • Step-by-step planning for ILR and British citizenship

  • Fixed-fee pricing – with No Win, No Fee available for eligible clients

What You’ll Need for a Successful Extension

To qualify for a Spouse Visa extension, you must meet the following key criteria:

  • You’re still in a genuine and ongoing relationship with your sponsoring partner

  • You meet the financial requirement (currently £29,000 per year, or via savings)

  • You have an English language qualification at A2 level or above (unless exempt)

If there have been any changes in your circumstances – for example, new employment, moving house, changes to income or benefits, or starting a family – we’ll guide you through how best to present this in your application.

What Comes Next – ILR and British Citizenship

Once you’ve spent five years continuously on the Spouse Visa route, you’ll be eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain, which provides permanent residency in the UK.

After holding ILR for one year, you may then be eligible to apply for British citizenship – securing your family’s long-term future in the UK.
